About The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is an American television series of suspense, fantasy and romance developed by Kevin Williamson and based on the book series of the same name written by L. J.Smith. The series debuted on American television broadcaster by The CW onSeptember 10, 2009 and is currently in season.

The series follows the events in the town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. A small fictional town haunted by supernatural beings. The main focus of the series is the love trianglebetween the protagonist, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and brothers, Stefan (PaulWesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Both have a dark past. Later, the light is thrown on the mysterious past of the city, involving the ancestral maléovola Elena,Katherine, who seeks revenge against the city, the brothers and their descendant, Elena.

Elena has always been a great student, beautiful, popular and involved with schooland friends. When the semester begins Elena becomes fascinated with the newschoolboy Stefan Salvatore, and she does not know he is a vampire centuries. While Stefan struggles to live in peace with humans, his brother Damon is the personification of violence and brutality.

The pilot episode drew the largest audience of the station since it debuted in 2006.The first season averaged 3.60 million viewers. The series was nominated for several awards, won a People's Choice Award and seven Teen Choice Awards. OnApril 26, 2011, the channel The CW has renewed the series for a third season, scheduled to begin on September 15, 2011.
