After four months of the tragic car accident that killed his parents, Elena Gilbert, 17,and his younger brother, Jeremy, try to get on with life. It was the beginning of a new school year and when the restart seemed increasingly uncertain, comes to town the mysterious young Stefan Salvatore. Thus is born a new passion, that face is threatened by the return of Damon, Stefan's older brother.
